A Girls Day.

I don’t think these girls really understand how much they mean to me. Actually, I know they don’t. To be honest, I am not a big talker and I keep most of my feelings to myself, so it makes sense that they would have no idea the impact they have made in my life. But believe me, they have.

To be embraced by a group of gorgeous young women who support, laugh, adventure, listen, and love one another is, gosh, it is beyond a beautiful blessing.

A dog brought all of us together on this particular day. Ellie’s family was out of town for the weekend and they needed someone to watch over their sweet black lab named Chase. We accepted the challenge. It was the perfect excuse for us to get some quality girl time.

We started our Saturday by walking the dog late that morning. The bright sun was playing hide and seek with the clouds and the brisk wind whipped our hair around our faces. Afterwords, we locked Chase safely in the house and loaded into Codi’s adorable, little, red Ford Focus. A quick stop to Trader Joes for egg noodles and sparkling lemonade (for later that night) and then we were off to Stillwater!

What a gorgeous day it was! We strolled along Main Street, peaked into shops, tried on dresses, and enjoyed the warmth of the sun as we walked side by side.

We journeyed all the way to Nelson’s Ice Cream shop and LET ME TELL YOU, it was well worth the climb. I love this place and I couldn’t believe that Emily and Codi had never been here before. I am extremely proud to say that I was a part of their very first “Nelson’s Ice Cream Experience.”    The bookstore was next! Mmm, we all love a good bookstore. And Stillwater has a cozy cute one. Emily was excited to find the perfect cookbook and I was feeling both excited and a little guilty for spending almost 40 dollars on three books that I didn’t exactly need but I just couldn’t say no to.

We paid a visit to the candy store…

…and to the ol’ Stillwater bridge……then climbed up like, 78321689 fights of stairs to admire a view that never gets old.

Later, we went back to Ellie’s to cook our dinner. It was so fun to do together, even though I am probably one of the worst cooks out there. (That’s why I just cut the fruit and set the table)   Our completed baked-salmon-garlic noodle-and-boiled-broccoli feast was definitely trophy wife worthy.Seriously though, boys where you at?!?

Driving back to River Falls that night, I was feeling incredibly and overwhelmingly blessed. One of those moments when it seems unfair that you feel so full of joy. I don’t have a clue how I got so lucky to have ended up with such wonderful friends, but I did.  And I thank God for you girls everyday.
